15.02.2018 - Gyrokinetic Theory of Strongly Magnetized Plasmas

Between February 19th until February 23th as well as between March 12th and 16th, an intensive course concerning strongly magnetized plasmas will take place at the insitute for theoretical physics of Prof. Grauer. Dr. Daniel Told is going to hold lectures in the morning and exercises will be avaible in the afternoon. The lectures will take place in NB 6/99 and the exercises in NB 7/173.
Interested people are welcome to join!

Workshops

06.11.2017- Workshop "Plasma Theory"

A special workshop on plasma theory ranging from astrophysical topics to fusion science has been organized by Prof. Grauer from TPI. Special guests were Dr. Daniel Told from the IPP Helmholtz Group on Computational Plasma Physics and Dr. Moritz Püschel from the University of Texas/University of Wisconsin.

Plasma Day

26.09.2016 - Plasma Day

Die erfahrenen Wissenschaftler Prof. Dr. Czarnetzki swoei Dr. Tsanko V. Tsankov sprachen über "Ion transport in plasmas and the kinetic Bohm criterion".

Aus der theoretischen Physik kamen drei Vorträge von Dr. Klaus Scherer zu "Astrosphären", Dr. Jens Kleimann zu "Ruhr Astroparticle and Plasma Physics Center" und Prof. Dr. Grauer zu "Multiscale/Multiphysics simulations of collisionless plasmas".

Abgeschlosen wurde der Tag mit einem Beitrag von Prof. Dr. Dirk Reiser zum Thema Theoretical Plasma Physics at FZJ IEK-4, Tokamaks, Stellarators and Linear Devices.

RAPP Center

01.08.2016 - RAPP Center: Inauguration workshop

In this first conference and opening ceremony of the "Ruhr Astroparticle and Plasma Physics Center" (RAPP Center) September 21-23, 2016, international speakers are invited to review knowledge on central questions with connection to activities within the RAPP center. The conference will start with an opening reception at the planetarium Bochum Wednesday evening. On Thursday and Friday, we will have one and a half days of plenary-only talks with additional time for discussions. The expected number of participants is about 100, talks are by invitation only, each 22 Minutes long plus 3 minutes for direct questions. We hope to intensify discussions about the frontiers of plasma- and particle-astrophysics in order to enhance the collaboration within the RAPP center and with our international friends even further.
